Notice
For Membrana Institute to publish and make available the author(s)' article, the author(s) must grant Membrana Institute the publication rights to this work. Therefore, we ask the author(s) publishing in one of our journals to sign a copyright agreement giving Membrana the necessary publication rights. This is done after the author(s) manuscript has gone through the peer review process and reached the production stage – before the final version is published.
Copyright
The author(s) need to agree to transfer all the copyrights necessary for publishing the article to Membrana Institute. The author(s) agree to our limited three years exclusive license agreement; after three years (starting with the publishing date) the agreement automatically becomes non-exclusive.
If the author(s) wishes to grant Membrana Institute an unlimited exclusive license for the work, the author(s) should contact Membrana before the expiry of the limited exclusive license.
For any other uses or the use of the work after the expiry of an exclusive license agreement, Membrana will contact the author(s) to reach a new agreement or to amend the existing one.
After the expiry of the exclusive license agreement author(s) is free to use the work in all formats except in Membrana's produced galleys of VoR, CVoR and EVoR (pdfs, xml, and html) as the author(s) sees fit. For these uses, the author(s) will need to specify the Membrana Institute as the original publisher of the work with details about the original publication.
Open Access & Copyright
If the author(s) publishes an article in open access, the author(s) retain full copyright to the work. Membrana must be granted the right to publish the article in its publications in Version of Record format via the copyright agreement signed prior to publication of the article.
In the copyright agreement, the author(s) can select the Creative Commons (CC) license of their choice and the article will be published under that license. The CC license specifies how the article can be used by third parties. Membrana recommends choosing the Attribution-NoDerivatives International (CC BY-ND) or Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives International (CC BY-NC-ND) licenses, as they give the author(s) more control over their work while encouraging the dissemination of the work by scientific and other communities.
Creative Commons Licences:
